The team had been given an extended period of down time, which
gave Matt a chance to go through some things his mother had sent
him from Michigan. Most of the stuff was junk, but one thing
that intrigued him, was an old journal belonging to his great
grandfather dated 1874. Matt took the book and walked to the
beach.
HERMOSA BEACH
Matt picks out a comfortable spot on the beach and finds one
underneath the pier. He begins to read the journal. He knew his
great grandfather was a captain in the union army and afterwards
was a sheriff in the Arizona territory. Aside from that, he knows
nothing about the man and neither does anyone else. Matt always
wondered what kind of man his great grandfather was. So he starts
to read and his mind drifts back............
